About
Jonathan Ade is an Emmy and Peabody award-winning director, writer and editor with a deeply-held passion for creating firmly-rooted humanistic narratives.
From 2010-2015, Jonathan wrote and directed a series of short films entitled "Meditations", each focusing on an introspective moment of everyday life. His film "Lay in Wait", starring Elizabeth Olin ("Killing Season", Academy Award-winning "God of Love") and Michael Stahl-David ("Cloverfield", "Show Me A Hero") was featured in over thirty film festivals across the world and was Executive Produced by Lucas Neff.
From 2017-2021, his work in the field of documentary led to a series of collaborations with NBC photojournalist Ed Ou, including a piece on the Philippines War on Drugs (with Aurora Almendral) and an in-depth look at Policing and Mental Illness in San Antonio (with Kitra Cahana). The latter was awarded a Peabody Award for News in 2020. Another documentary, “The New West Coast Sound,” was awarded an LA Area Emmy Award in 2021.
From 2021 onward, he embarked in the field of voice direction for video games, most prominently Hogwarts Legacy (WB), the best-selling game of 2023, but also Fallout ‘76 (Blindlight), Remnant II (Gunfire), Helldivers 2 (Sony), and Multiversus (WB), where he helped dozens of voice actors achieve meaningful, grounded performances.
Jonathan is also an alumni of several long-term artistic residencies where he created site-specific films at the intersection of cinema and traditional installation. They were at Hub-Bub in Spartanburg, SC, Kimmel Harding Nelson Center in Nebraska City, and Interlochen Academy in Michigan, from 2014-2016.
